Youth Team of the Tournament

I have had a couple of managers suggest we have some more youth league related statistics. Among them a team of the tournament where the player of the tournament earns their club side some sort of prize (probably youth points or cash). What do people think?

Do think this is a good idea as stats/awards on youth league is a bit light. Cant see me ever winning it though :-D

Sounds good!Think all my agent players will have incentive to start playing well then! :)

I think a player of the tournament is a good idea and personally I’d like to see a few more rewards for the youth league. At the moment I don’t really bother with it much, using more as a means to bed players and bring them through, so a few more rewards would grab my interest a bit more

This is a spanking idea to me as it would bring a bit more interest to the YL each week and the top players would be more valuable?

    Brilliant idea!

I like the idea of the prize being youth points too…

Anything that gives me a chance of more Youth points is a good thing. Banners would be nice to display on the forums as well would be nice, now we don’t have the EPL

No brainer – can only be good.

Yep like the sound of being rewarded for doing well in the youth league, although i feel if a player receives individual recognition then it should go to him, not the team. I know we have alot of high sk players in the game already but what about the best performing player going to sk6? Or maybe having the option to promote him with his form intact or some sort of IR bonus? It would only be 1 every 6 weeks & would make managers think twice about promoting them prematurely? Could also have a team of the week performance prize of yp’s like we we in the full league?……..waiting to get shot down in flames!!!!

Yep, i’m all for this!! Shame it wasn’t introduced earlier as i reckon i would have had a shout with Jensen Morgan!!! And winning two titles on the trot!!!

  11. Mark says:

My piss is firmly directed to ur fire Henf … pardon my french … no sk6′s for youths thanks ….

wer does the 1 every 6 weeks come from ? … team of week sounds ok thou

Not adverse to a Europe v Rest of World game once a youth season to give the youths a chance of an extra cap as they are not getting any B ips like they used too wen YL started … or does this defeat the object

  12. Stu Henfrey says:

Excuse me MM but aim your piss away from my fire!! It was merely a suggestion to reward individual players rather than teams & i also offered 2 other suggestions regarding this!! As for the comment of every 6 weeks, this was aimed at a player of the tournament at the end of each campaign but i have now noticed its 7 games not 6!!! So put a cork in it!!!!

Good idea. Would be very good introduction to the game.

Yep, I’m all for changes to the youth league in respect of players getting in to some team of the week. There definitely needs to be a reward for a player of the week in my opinion – perhaps two skill points to a maximum of a skill 5 – if a player is a skill 5 or 4 that gets it then perhaps they could be rewarded with additional form, IR or youth points to the team.

  15. Mark Corder says:

Seeing as a player now loses all their form on promotion, it will sort of make a promoted player we pretty worthless on promotion compared to seemingly have value in the youth league – so there has to be some reason to promote them as opposed to just bringing in a skill 3/4/5 and putting them straight into the main team to let them gain skill points through win etc.

I’d certainly like to see some tangible reward for being interested in the youth league system. This is a bit radical, but lets say once a youth player hits 10/15/20 form dots (I don’t know which is realistic to make the numbers right), they get a ‘P’ added to them (Like ‘B’ for Bull, ‘C’ for Cruso etc) and the ‘P’ is identified as a prospect. These’ players have made the grade in the youth team, served their apprenticeship and been one of the lucky few (as in the real world) as being identified as having the potential to be the next Wayne Rooney etc. I’d like them to be rare but damn good. It means you have to stick with them in the youth side, it means they would have real value instead of being run of the mill youth players and it means that they are the real deal. Just my views.

  16. Mark Corder says:

Following on from the above, you could make the ‘P’ players, and indeed any Bull, Cruso, Ivanoff, Heron players start with a + modifier in terms of International rating.

For example, a P (Prospect player) gets +150 IR points
    Ivanoff / Heron +250
    Bull + 350
    Cruso +500

This means that, no matter what happens, the agent players and the youth prospects will always be worth more, deliver more, get more caps/exposure than the run-of-the mill players. I plucked the numbers out of thin air and perhaps different numbers would be more suited, but it gives you a reason to buy Bull and Cruso if they always get +200 IR on top of their usually calculated score.

For anyone that hasn’t yet noticed, I’ve gone on to expand the above two posts in greater depth in the forums (Questions and Suggestions area titled “A double idea / suggestion).

    Thanks for your time people.
